About Classical Conversations

Classical Conversations is an international home education movement that equips parents and students with a Biblical worldview and the classical tools of learning. We believe that the purpose of education is to know God and to make Him known. Our programs train students to learn new information through a 3-step process. First, we input basic facts in the grammar stage. Then we process those facts and dialogue with others in the dialectic stage. Finally, we learn to express our thoughts eloquently and persuasively in the rhetoric stage.

Classical Conversations Programs

Foundations (K4-6th)
Foundations is a grammar stage program that meets from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, 1 day a week for 24 weeks. Trained tutors model the grammar-stage tools of learning including observation, memorization, and organization. Using games, songs, and activities, students learn vocabulary and facts from a wide range of subjects, conduct a weekly science experiment, participate in a fine arts lesson, and give weekly presentations.

Essentials (4th - 6th)
Essentials is a grammar and dialectic stage that meets from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, following the morning Foundations meeting. Through discussion and games, students learn to analyze and discuss language, develop writing structures and styles, and practice arithmetic speed and accuracy.

Challenge (7th - 12th)
Challenge A & B (Junior High) and Challenge I, II, III and IV (High School) move students into the dialectic and rhetoric stages of learning by utilizing academically challenging curriculum to develop the skills of grammar, exposition, debate, logic, rhetoric, and research. In each level, a highly qualified, experienced homeschooling parent-tutor partners with students and their parents as a learning mentor in all subjects. Challenge students meet from 8:15 am - 3:30 pm 1 day a week for 30 weeks.

Classical Conversation Communities
CC connects families with others who home-school using the classical model. They become companions who can share the journey. Trained tutors introduce the week's work and families continue the lessons at home during the week. Additional events and opportunities are offered by CC at the state and national level.
