About CAHSA

Serving in the Home School Community of Illinois in the McLean County Area

At a crossroads

A crossroads is more than simply where two roads intersect; it can also be a point where one must choose between different courses of action. Each of these definitions applies to homeschoolers in our area. Bloomington-Normal is where several Illinois highways cross paths, but through CAHSA, the lives of families who approach homeschooling from various directions do more than intersect — they connect.

Who we are

Hundreds of families in our area have examined the choices in educating their children and have chosen homeschooling as the best route for them. Though most have made it a lifestyle, others chose to do so for a season or to better meet the needs of a single child. Some have done so for religious reasons, some for academic, some for social. No matter what the motivation, CAHSA unites these diverse people where their lives connect by respecting individuality and accepting responsibility for how our personal decisions reflect on the entire homeschool community.

Our purpose

Over the last few decades many have sacrificed to develop various programs that have served local homeschoolers. CAHSA does not replace or diminish any of these but was formed to provide an easily accessible network of communication and resources which will better equip parents, enhance the experience for students, and educate local communities about the viability of homeschooling. As families make the decision to begin homeschooling or move into the Crossroads Area, our purpose is to make them aware of the opportunities and resources available to them.

Getting connected

There is no formal membership at this time and no fee to be a part of this association, however some activities have a small fee to cover costs.

We encourage families to join the CAHSA Google Group, a free, private email network, which is used to share information, ideas, materials or requests. Simply send an email with your membership request.

Subscribing to the group qualifies members for the HSLDA group discount.

Additionally, home schooling parents are welcome to join our conversations on the CAHSA Facebook group. Finally, follow the links in the website to contact others about any of the opportunities available.
